general ramblings of a mum

Whoa…

It just occured to me that I haven’t posted here in ages. I didn’t realise just how long it’s been… *shocked* A lot has changed in the last 4 months and change.

We lost Bill (M’s uncle) unexpectedly, right after New Year’s. M had to go back to the UK to help sort some things out to do with that, and… *sighs* It caused a lot of chaos that had a ripple effect that has only just been, well… I won’t call it sorted, but for all intents and purposes, we’ll leave it at that. (basically to do with the gits at his former place of employment and the harrassment that was going on, which he sued to be released from his contract and was granted. They really had no choice because it was either that or have their VERY dirty laundry out for everyone to see in court.)

Both our health has taken turns for the worse, but hopefully soon will improve. Our docs have a handle on it (theoretically LOL Whether WE do or not remains to be seen *coughs*) so hopefully we can let them do whatever they need to do. Fifi needs an update on her medication (more of her thyroid stuff), as well as her immunisations up to date, and Gareth needs to have a checkup before he goes for his internship placement, wherever that is. -.-; He still needs to get on that, too.

As M is now ‘unemployed’, he has decided to push forward with his business plans, and we have both been working hard, doing the networking thing (him more so than me, tho) and attending meetings, seminars, and that sort of thing. (tho as usual, panic attacks and social anxiety still suck, hard) He’s working on getting funding from various sources and putting together events and now I have to do a presentation (WUT…). I am… not sure about this, but he said he’d help me with it. Can you tell I’ve never done this before? LOL

surprises…

I just found a box stuffed full of ribbon spools. I don’t remember ever having them (or this many LOL) but here they are. Some of them are gorgeous too. I am going to have a play with them soon. *grins* This is gonna be fuuuu~~n. 😀

I also found a shiny ‘cassette’ bag for Fifi to play with, but she’s still asleep with her big brother. *sighs* Too damned hot to do anything else, really. I am not fond of this 35°C weather, so can it pls stop? >.<

Missing you

I’m sitting here at 3am, watching downloads of a web series, and crying my eyes out. The series itself is actually quite funny, but with a serious undertone.

I miss them. So much it hurts. That’s why I am crying. I want them to come back, even though I know it’s not possible in this life. I haven’t cried like this in a long time, so maybe it’s long overdue, but I still miss them so much. Even more knowing they’ll never know Fifi and how much happiness she brings to us despite everything. They would have loved her, I know it.

I love and miss you. T.T

Fabric scrap dollies

I just spent the last few hours (while watching a movie) making some scrap fabric dollies for Fifi. I’m pretty happy with how they turned out. 😀 I could only find tiny craft sticks, so that’s what I used. It doesn’t seem to have made much difference, and she can even use them as finger puppets if she wants, though her hands are teeny like mine. (not surprising, given she’s not even 2 yet! hehe)

I got the idea from this site and it was very easy to follow. Click here to see the photo. I made 4 of them total. (so far hehehe It can be addicting, making these things…)

Moving. Again.

(Dammit)

So we gave our notice at the beginning of July. Big mistake in not leaving first and then giving notice, but as usual, Matt doesn’t listen to me. *grumbles* Anyway, we now have a move-in date, one month from today (yay) and I seriously just can’t wait to get out of here. When the previous tenant warned us that our landlord would go all weird when we gave our notice, we should have listened, because now we’re going to have to get a lawyer involved. The constant harrassment, blaming us for something he knew was wrong before that we were not responsible for, arguing about any and everything… He said he would get his lawyer involved, but it seems that if he did, they either told him to leave us alone until we left, or was told to piss off cuz he doesn’t have any case against us, because he suddenly is now avoiding us, even tho we still need some things sorted out and dealt with. (like rent, the damned floor, etc.)

But anyway, the new landlord is doing everything aboveboard, nothing dodgy about this guy, and the current tenants give him a glowing reference to us (tho they kind of have to so we’ll take the place LOL) and he did seem really nice. The only downside (if you can even count it as one) is that he doesn’t speak any English, but I had no trouble understanding him, nor did hubby, and he could easily understand our French, so there you go. We’re moving to a village in Belgium, just over the Luxembourg border, which is handy for Matt’s work. (20 minutes away with traffic. Bonus, that.) He’s registering us as renting from him with the local commune (council) and we just have to go in to register ourselves as and whenever. Quite a change from here, can tell ya that.

Matt is getting someone to come and move everything for us, and he said one of them even does the cleaning after they’ve moved all our stuff, so that will do just nicely. Less stress on us both. He’s also getting a car from work, tho when, we’re not quite sure. He needs it cuz his car is just getting worn out and despite many attempts at repairing it, it doesn’t make any difference. So that’ll be handy for him too.

Gaz has been helping out a lot over his summer break, tho he doesn’t actually want to go back to school in Sept. He doesn’t really have much choice – it’s his last year, and we’re not pressuring him to go to uni if he doesn’t want to. (His grandparents a completely different story, but that’s them…) He’ll be able to come home and start up his business straight from school then, having the qualifications he needs. Or even work at any of the fancy restos anywhere in the area if he really wants to.

Fifi is growing like a weed, as usual. Just had to get her a load of new clothes and she’s now in the 18M size, even tho she’s not even a year old yet. I’m gonna be the shortest in my family (and I’m not even that short!), I know it. *pouts* She got some new shoes too, cuz I’m tired of her wearing scrubbies (aka casual stuff like jammies and whatever) and having to wear her sunday shoes with them. She’s almost worn those out too, come to think of it. But anyway. For a baby, she’s awfully opinionated on what she wants to wear LOL She picked out almost all the outfits herself. (she has expensive taste *woe*)

Tired again so going to lay down/sleep. Can’t wait to get out of here and have a proper house with permission to have as many pets as we want, even. (we’re getting a dog! *flails* we want a rabbit too but no garden for the poor thing, so…) No stupid restrictions, or harrassment, or anything like that. \o/!

What a week (and it’s only just begun)

Gaz arrived on Saturday, over two and a half hours late. We had to leave the house because of the construction, but being out for so long has wrecked my feet something awful. Hubby ended up having to go on his own to pick him up because I just couldn’t walk anymore. We did go to the Luxembourg Museum of National History and Art, which was very interesting, even if the art section wasn’t exactly my cuppa. I’m not much for abstract stuff, though the portraiture was ok. (still not my style, but I’m picky LOL)

My glasses went missing yesterday, so I had to use my sunglasses. It was very awkward, cuz we lost most of the day looking for them, so couldn’t stay out for very long (can’t drive in the dark wearing sunglasses, for obvious reasons…). *sighs* I think hubby thought we were just being lazy until he came and tried to look for them himself and couldn’t find them. In the end, I got contact lenses, which I can see better out of than the glasses, so I guess it works out.

Poor Fifi is sick – I think she got hubby’s cold. She’s been clingy and whiny for the past couple of days since Gaz got home, mostly to him. LOL Poor kid. I don’t think he anticipated his school half-term break would be spent looking after his baby sister, but he has stepped up, so I’m really proud of him.

Still having nightmares and it’s stupid. I used to be able to link it to my parents calling me, but now… I just don’t know anymore. There doesn’t seem to be any theme to them, just that they’re incredibly vivid and often freaky and terrifying. 😦 It’s making it very difficult to get to sleep, and that’s without my normal insomnia. I wish I knew how to make it stop, but even sleeping pills don’t help, and I am not keen on going down that route if I can help it anyway.

So tired

I knew having another baby would be exhausting, but I’d forgotten just how exhausting they can be. S is totally different from G as well, which isn’t helping. She’s so much more active than her brother ever was (still is LOL) and it’s a lot of work to keep up with her.

I love her to bits tho, and miss G tons. Can’t wait for him to come back from school for mid-term break. He’ll only be here a week, but oh well. Then Easter… I don’t know if he’ll be coming home for summer break tho; he was saying something about getting a summer job so he could get experience or whatever. We’ll have to see how it goes, what’s available that is suitable for him etc.
